I remember the complete moment when I first heard this life-changing statement. I was running in early dawn on a Saturday as part of m y training for the brand new York City Marathon. It was nearly 90 degrees within the dead of summer in Miami. The humidity was horrific and that i repeatedly questioned my sanity for awakening with the ungodly hour of 4:00 a.m. to perform over 14 miles.
My coach was by himself. I mumbled to her, This is really hard. She turned to me and said, Of course its hard. Life begins following your comfort zone. - the writing guru - the writing guru
That statement resonated inside me at that particular serious amounts of it resonated in me those last few painful miles ofmy first marathon. Once i crossed the finish line with my body on empty and my mind completely delirious, I now knew what it was want to push beyond my limits also to feel really uncomfortable, so uncomfortable that I had to become more comfortable with being utterly and totally uncomfortable. It would be a feeling that was indescribable. The pain sensation was worth the glory of achieving something truly amazing.
